FAQ Green Papas
What is CBD?
CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is one of the 113 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It is derived from the aerial parts of hemp. These occurring substances work similarly to cannabinoids that your body makes on its own.
Are cannabis, hemp, and marijuana the same?
Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants. In regards to taxonomy, hemp and marijuana are the same plants but different subspecies of cannabis. Hemp is the plant originally used for fiber, oils, and seeds. Marijuana is typically used for its psychoactive properties.
It might be confusing to distinguish between the two as the even look and smell the same. The only significant difference between them is that hemp contains no more than 0.3% (by dry weight) of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). To compare it with marijuana, it contains 5-30%.
What is the difference between THC and CBD?
CBD and THC have a similar makeup: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and two oxygen atoms. However, they are arranged differently, hence the difference in the way they affect the body.
THC is the compound that accounts for the ‘high’ feeling, and it comes from the sticky, dense buds. These buds are commonly known as weed or pot. CBD is not psychotropic, and it does not affect the user’s mental state. For that reason, it can be used at work when driving or doing different physical activities.
How does CBD work?
CBD affects the body and the brain through the endocannabinoid system. ECS controls sleep, the immune system, memory, emotions, perception of pleasure and pain, and appetite. By activating ECS receptors, CBD affects those functions.
Where do you source your ingredients?
Green Papas features CBD products made from organic Kentucky hemp.
Will CBD oil get me high?
Users get high as a result of THC consumption, while CBD is non-psychotropic. CBD-based products are made from the hemp plant, which contains practically no THC. When THC levels are above 0.3%, the plant is considered to be marijuana. The only effects similar to a ‘high’ that users experience is improved mood, a better quality of sleep, and increased focus.
Will it show up on a drug test?
No. Cannabis drug testing detects the presence of THC. While some CBD products may contain traces of THC, under normal conditions, the results will be negative. The only condition in which you will show positive is taking unrealistically large amounts of CBD products.
How do you take CBD?
CBD can be taken in multiple ways. One of the most common ways is to get CBD oil in the form of tinctures, where CBD is the main or even the only ingredient. There are also many varieties of edibles, such as CBD gummies, vape juices, gels, and sprays. Every product contains different amounts of the active ingredient, so remember to read the label.
What is the right CBD dosage?
Your dosage calculations depend on the concentration, severity of the condition, your weight, and your body chemistry. The baseline estimate is 1mg for every 10 pounds of body weight for mild conditions and goes up to 6mg. Start with the lowest dosage for your weight and increase it gradually as needed.
What conditions does CBD treat?
The growing body of scientific evidence suggests that CBD is helpful for anxiety, inflammation, insomnia, chronic pain, and a lot more. In terms of chronic pain management, CBD was shown to reduce inflammatory and neuropathic pain, which is otherwise very hard to treat. Also, studies indicate that CBD can be used as an antiseizure medication.
Officially, the FDA has not yet approved CBD drug products (except for one medication). Therefore, it’s best to consult with a specialist when treating severe conditions or significantly increasing the dosage.
What is the shelf life of CBD oil?
By itself, CBD cannot expire. However, the CBD content in oil decreases during long-storage periods, especially when it’s exposed to light. It is recommended to refrigerate CBD products or keep them in a cool, dark place to avoid degradation.
Is CBD legal?
Yes. Hemp can be grown legally, by licensed growers, according to the 2018 Farm Bill. Hemp-derived CBD is no longer on the controlled substance list, which makes purchasing, production, and sales legal. Once again, the law specifies that a product should contain no more than 0.3% THC.
Is CBD safe?
Yes. CBD is non-toxic. There are no recorded instances of CBD, leading to any sort of illness. Not to mention, Green Papas products are regularly tested to make sure there are no contaminants. The only side effect to note here is drowsiness, which can be caused by taking a very large dose of CBD.
